One For Care Testimonials

Hi Sam,

Just a quick note to let you know that all of the 2010 Care Beyond Measure students have now fully completed their course requirements. They should receive their statement of results in the mail sometime late next week.

The students have been a wonderful group in the classroom with incredible support being shown for each other. Their standard of work and unit submissions have been of the highest standard and their class attendance rate has been exceptional.

We have no doubt that those students who go on to work with Care Beyond Measure will be an absolute asset for both the business and the clients they will come into contact with.

We wish you all the very best for Christmas and the coming year.

Regards,
Kevin Brown, Teacher, Continuing Education Bendigo.

This is the best decision I have ever made in my life and I wish that I had made it earlier.

It was not until my mother was struck down with pneumonia and had lacked oxygen for a short time which affected her memory, that I realised how much assistance is needed for the person to remain in their own home and maintain some independence. Without the help of my dad, sister, carers and home help my mum would not have been able to stay at home.

When I saw the One For Care program advertised I decided to apply and I was successful in obtaining a position in the class. Continuing Education Bendigo and Care Beyond Measure produced the program and I enjoyed every part of it even though it entailed a great deal of work outside of school hours. It was worth every hard working minute.

During the six months that I attended class and completed my ninety six hours of on the job training I managed to work full time afternoon shift from 4.00pm to 12.00am in Castlemaine.

Since I have graduated I have been working for Care Beyond Measure in a wide range of capacities including, personal care such as showering, feeding and dressing people, respite, general house cleaning and shopping. I have also transported some clients to appointments and to visit relatives.

I would recommend this course and type of work to anyone who is considering a career in Aged Care, Disability or Home and Community Care because if you complete the program there are the three certificates that you get in return for studying hard. You will obtain not only Certificate lll in Aged Care but also Certificate lll in Disability and Certificate lll in home and Community Care.

You will get out of the program what you are prepared to put in.

The best thing about being a care giver is the satisfaction you get when being able to assist someone to remain independent and the only downside is that there are probably so many others out there who need our assistance but are unable to get it.

From Lisa

“Our son, who is intellectually disabled, loves aeroplanes and anything to do with flying. He found a model plane club who was keen to have him join, but I don’t drive and he can’t travel by himself and am working when the club meets, so we really didn’t think he could go. Then Donna, our case manager, suggested Care Beyond Measure might be able to help. She rang Sam and he found another aeroplane nut who takes Ben off to the club every week, stays with him and helps him and brings him home. I can’t tell you what a difference this has made to our week and to Ben’s life!”
